I've found some good offers so far, EVO VIII, year 2004 with 59k kilometers for only 13.900€ being the most attractive, as it is also very close. For others, i'd have to travel far.

Can anyone give me a tip or two, on what to care for? The owner is assuring me he did not use the car for any kind of racing, and it seems in really good shape overall.

I've also got an offer for an EVO VIII, year 2005 with 30k kilometers for 19.800€. It has some mods done, which brings it up to 330hp, but I think the modifications just lower the actual value of the car? I don't plan on modding the cars engine, but buying a beefed up version of it would certainly be welcome.

Right now, i'm just asking for general tips, i'll have a test drive on both of them saturday next week. So any questions I should ask the owners of the car, what should I look for when on the test drive?

Full service history is important on such a specialised piece of machinery. Run them from cold - be wary if they have been warmed up. Look for blue smoke and check the turbo cuts in when it should (around 2300 -300 rpm I think in those!)

Clutch and synchro can be prone to failure check for smooth gear change and slipping when the clutch engages.

Other than that these seem to be pretty reliable cars if properly cared for.

Allright, I'll keep that in mind. Could you also answer what kind of gas mileage I can expect from this sort of car? The seller says his average was 14l/100km, but a friend of mine owns a 2004 subaru impreza sti and he uses up to 20l/100km! Is there really such a difference, or is the current owner pulling my leg? (Or does my friend simply have such a heavy leg?!)

It sounds like a heavy right foot to me. These cars are made to burn loads of fuel when you drive them hard as that is where the power comes from. Keep it on long cruises at 80km and you'll see nearer 21l/100km push it hard and this would drop to 10l/100km or lower :D !

Thinking of trading my dc5 for an evo vii fully stock, 49000 kms on it, looks smick but just curios what should i look for when buying and what are the pros and cons of the car?
It comes with 2yr parts and labour warantee and 24/7 roadside assist and 6 months rego.
Just trying to be careful is all. Thanks.
