Hello everyone.

i have a mk1 focus 1.4

the clutch bite point is very very high....like the top of the pedal!
if i rest my foot on it with no force, it will disengage from the flywheel.

i haven't been to a garage and asked yet, but i think the clutch must nearly worn out...

or does anyone else have this problem or any advice?
cant really afford a new clutch for a while -_-

thanks
Alex

Sounds to me that you have guessed right. Before long the clutch will start to slip without the need to press the pedal.

I suggest you drive sedately with as many clutchless gearchanges as possible whilst saving up for a new clutch. Unlike blown exhaust, bald tyres or broken bulbs when the clutch goes you are stuck, usually miles from home and late at night in the rain.

Thanks Steve,

it has done over 70K miles anyway, so even if it wasnt the problem i would guess it would still need doing eventually :(

looks like a bad day for the wallet!

Alex
