Sleeper - A powerful car that looks normal.

"Sleeper's Stagea Part 2"

This is part 2 of the Sleepers Stagea build. (Read the previous part here.)

If you thought the previous spec was impressive then we are sure you will be equally impressed by the totally reworked Stagea here.

After a lot of work and effort sourcing an impressive Stagea and doing it up, the engine sadly went pop! This is a common story among tuners and shows that you shouldn't ever cut corners.

This led Sleeper to do some soul and wallet searching and he went for a full rebuild using the highest quality internals. All the work was done by Tweenierob and T R Racing.

It is certainly true that you get what you pay for. Build a car capable of handling more power than you need for ultimate reliability.

Sleeper wasn't just content with uprating the engine. His philosophy is very much "if a job is worth doing it is worth doing well", so he set about a complete upgrade to every other major part of the car and make sure nothing was going to go pop 2nd time round.

It is true that if you uprate one part of a car it will often show up a weakness elsewhere.

To fully realise the potential of your tuning project you should consider this knock on effect and built in a good margin for safety. Plus when you get bored with the power you still have some potential to upgrade further.

So moving on with Sleepers Stagea build we see a good range of sensible additional mods and precautions taken.

Currently Sleepers favourite toy - is the wireless boost controller, mounted on the steering wheel and swaps hi/lo boost. It was certainly a highlight fitting the forged engine.

When pressed for his favourite mod he would say definitely the steering wheel switch, not forgetting that Q car compulsory fitment - The Factory dog guard

The next mods will be a quiet exhaust that doesn't lose any power and finish uprating all the steering bushes and arms.

Sleeper tells us, "Although I did not start out with this in mind. the current plan is to build the ultimate sleeper/ Q car.

Because its completely under the radar - I don't ever get a second look from the boys with lights and it means I can pootle along without constantly being buzzed at traffic lights unless I happen to be in a playful mood.

Plus there really is nothing like an M3 driver saying - excuse me but what the hell is that (after he has caught up!)

Its also deliberately as stealth as possible - people usually don't notice big brakes etc on estates, in fact the most just don't see the car it's a green estate so lifting the bonnet is always good for a grin..."oh my god" or similar is the most common response."

We have to agree and hiding 620BHP in a "boring" looking Estate is fantastic. If there was ever a candidate for the ultimate Sleeper or Q car - this is it!

As far as sleepers go this has to be one of the best around. If you ever get overtaken by a large green estate car then chances are you've been Sleepered!
